March 30 is National Doctor's Day
Littleton Regional Hospital Physicians to be Honored

Littleton, NH - March 30 is designated as National Doctors’ Day this year, a day for people to publicly acknowledge and thank their physicians for the care they provide, the research they do and the good health they promote.

Littleton Regional Hospital will be celebrating National Doctors Day with a variety of activities, including a gourmet breakfast served by LRH employees and a Car Wash for all of our physicians. LRH employees and the Littleton Hospital Auxiliary work together to celebrate this special occasion.

President George Bush first signed in 1990 into law a resolution proclaiming March 30 of each year as National Doctors Day. “The enactment of this law allows people in their community to publicly show appreciation for the vital role that doctors play in caring for the sick, advancing medical knowledge and promoting good health,” explains Gail Clark, director of development and community relations.

The first Doctor’s Day observance was held on March 30, 1933, by the Barrow County Medical Auxiliary in Winder, Georgia. March 30 also signifies the date anesthesia was first administered by a doctor in a surgical operation in 1842.

“Everyone understands that our physicians are important to our North Country community not only as caregivers, but as neighbors, civic club members, church leaders and the like. Our doctors are part of this community and are part of our families, so we want to be sure to publicly thank them for their contributions to our health and well-being,” said Clark.
