The Birth and Parenting Program at Littleton Regional Hospital's Agnes Norris Birthing Center is family-centered. As the expectant mother and her partner prepare for the birth of a new baby, a wide variety of programs help to educate the parents throughout the stages of pregnancy, and provide support for the challenges of early parenting. Each course is described below to assist in making choices for educational opportunities. Pregnant women usually attend classes with their partner or a companion; however, women may come alone. Questions concerning the Birth & Parenting Program may be answered by calling 444-9335.

Pregnancy, Birth, and Parenting Series
A series of eight two-hour classes: Healthy Pregnancy Matters. Given early in pregnancy, the classes focus on the physical and emotional changes of pregnancy, nutrition, exercise, and fetal development.

Six weekly classes beginning in the third trimester teach couples techniques to cope with labor and birth, to gain confidence in parenting and caring for a newborn, and to adjust to their new role as parents. A special reunion is scheduled after delivery where couples can share their birthing experiences and early parenting adventures.
