LRH New Hampshire Emergency Medical Services 18th Annual Conference

The Littleton Regional Hospital - New Hampshire "North Country" Emergency Medical Services Conference was held in October at the Attitash Grand Summit Hotel & Conference Center in Bartlett, New Hampshire. Nearly 300 emergency medical service providers attended this annual conference.

The conference provides training to emergency medical service providers from New Hampshire and surrounding New England states. All of the courses offered at the conference meet the requirements of emergency medical service provider mandatory annual training. Each year the conference offers new topics to continue to attract additional attendees. Keynote Tim Hillier of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada presented on "How to make your career in EMS go on and on...", whether you are and old dog or new to the field, Tim's comments rekindled a bit of excitement among all participants. Presenters come from all over New England and the United States including Chris Ebright, Louisiana; Jeremiah Goyette, VT; William Hathaway, VT; Tony Lipiari, VT; Bob Page, MI; Steve Trala, VT; Micheal Walker, MA; Gary Wiemokly, CT; Walt Hendrick, NY, American Burn Association - Vermont Chapter representative and New England Council of EMS.

Participants enjoyed the exhibit hall which featured 23 vendors including Armstrong Medical, Auto-Tronics, Bergeron Protective Clothing, Boundtree, Confections by Jen, DHART, EMS Innovations, First Response Apparel, Frontline Fire Equipment, Greenwood Emergency Vehicles, Image Trend, Lifeguard Systems, NH Bureau of EMS, Molnlycke Medical, NE Marine and Industrial Professional Vehicle Corporation, STRYKER, Sugarloaf Ambulance, Verathon, Visibly Safe and Zoll Medical.

The conference also provides an opportunity to recognize outstanding service and the following individuals were recognized during the annual awards ceremony - Steven Czarnecki, EMT-P received the North Country Educator Award; William Fiske, EMT-B received the North Country Provider Award; Joan Veilleux received the North Country Citizen Award and Samuel Oakes received the North Country Youth Award.

Linda Clark, RN and coordinator of the EMS Conference extended a special thanks to committee volunteers who worked hard to make this event happen including Judy Deveau, Marcel Deveau, Ginger Wharem, Ed Laverty, Shawn Grover, Sabra Carroll, Tim Leavitt and LRH staff including Dr. Edward Duffy, Sean Carroll, Kim Thayer and Cindy Fagnant.
