LRH Charitable Foundation Receives Support from Fresh Salon and Day Spa
December 29, 2010
Littleton Regional Hospital Charitable Foundation received a $2,000 donation in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Pink Hair for Hope. The donation was given by the Kristen Weir, owner of Fresh Salon and Day Spa of Littleton. This October, Fresh Salon and Day Spa came to LRH placing pink hair extensions on nearly 100 staff, volunteers and members of the community. In addition, they offered this to their clientele at the Spa.
This is the second year the Fresh Salon and Day Spa has hosted a Pink Hair for Hope initiative during the month of October. The Salon plans to continue this tradition to support the American Cancer Society and Littleton Regional Hospital with funds raised for women who are unable to pay for a mammogram. Kristen Weir adds, "We hope that other businesses will join us in 2011 to raise additional funds to support LRH's Breast Care Services. We plan to approach businesses in the area and hope that there will be an interest to host a Pink Hair for Hope day in 2011."
According to the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, "Women below poverty level are less likely than women at higher incomes to have had a mammogram within the past two years." Weir adds, "It is statistics like this that make this so important as many women cannot afford to have a mammogram because of lack of insurance or lack of funds." Anyone interested in hosting a Pink Hair for Hope Day in 2011, should contact the Fresh Salon and Day Spa at (603) 259-3400.
