Littleton Libraries Celebrate National Library Week 2011
April 10, 2011
"Every day, public and special libraries across the country are helping people," says Anne Conner, Director of the Gale Medical Library and the Anna Connors Patient & Family Resource Center. "Whether it is by opening a book and exploring distant lands, or learning about healthy lifestyles and disease prevention, people at our libraries are creating new opportunities for themselves. Research shows that parents who encourage their children to read early on (sharing book reading, attending story hours at libraries) is one predictor of a child's future success with language and literacy."
First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April.
