Dr. Mukerjee Receives Special Competency


Dr. Anil Mukerjee of Littleton, New Hampshire

Dr. Anil Mukerjee has successfully completed the examination of special competency in adult echocardiography (ASCeXAM) and is board certified in comprehensive adult echocardiography by the National Board of Echocardiography, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of echocardiography and to individual growth in echocardiography.

Dr. Mukerjee is recognized for his special interest in all aspects of adult echocardiography and is currently the medical director of the cardiac echocardiography laboratory at Littleton Regional Hospital. Echocardiographic procedures offered at the laboratory include transthoracic echocardiograms to evaluate the size and function of the heart and all of its valves, transesophageal echocardiograms, better known as TEE, which are used to evaluate hard to see structures of the heart, and dobutamine stress echocardiograms, or DSE which allow the physician to diagnose coronary heart disease by stressing the heart.

Dr. Mukerjee became an active member of the medical staff in 1996 after completing his cardiology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital – Harvard Medical School in Boston. He is board certified in both internal medicine and cardiology and has recently completed cardiac CT training at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Mukerjee is trained in cardiac PET from Massachusetts General Hospital.

Littleton Regional Hospital achieved Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography (ICAEL) certification for the echocardiography laboratory in 2003, of which Dr. Mukerjee was instrumental in overseeing the process.
