Feel’n Top Notch – Outdoor Expo & Wellness Fair
Franconia – Plans are well underway for the 1st Annual Feel’n Top Notch Outdoor Expo and Wellness Fair that will take place on Saturday, August 16, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Cannon Mountain primarily in the Peabody Lodge area.

Cannon Mountain, Littleton Regional Hospital, Pemigewasett Valley Search & Rescue, Franconia Notch Chamber of Commerce and the NH Fish & Game Department have collaborated to create what will likely become one of the North Country’s largest summer events. The Expo and Wellness Fair is intended to provide numerous opportunities for people to learn outdoor skills and wellness tips in a fun and exciting environment.

The event will have four major components including exhibits, demonstrations and 45-minute mini-seminars and activities. In addition, in excess of 40 vendors will be in attendance promoting their services or products.

Planned exhibits include a New Hampshire National Guard Blackhawk helicopter, the DHART helicopter, forest fire equipment, the Grafton County Sheriff’s Department Communications and Command Trailer, and numerous other exhibits. Demonstrations will include a simulated rescue of an injured hiker, maintaining your bike, fly-casting, canoeing and kayaking, water rescue and numerous other demonstrations.

Planned mini-seminars will include the HikeSafe program, Hiking with Children, Moose Facts and Myths, Bugs, Bites and leafs of three, Map & Compass, Basics of GPS, I miss my Old Man – Mittersill Skiing-What is planned, among numerous other mini-seminars.

Planned activities include a climbing wall, bands, clowns, face painting, trail bike rides (bikes supplied), nature hikes, GPS caching, and obstacles courses.

The wellness fair component will include free blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose screenings, massage therapy, Reiki, Reflexology, herbal medicine, acupuncture and several fitness demonstrations and mini-seminars on Yoga for Kids, QiGong, T-Tapp, Marma Point, and Circuit Training.

The cost of the event is $5.00 per person with children under 12 admitted free. All activities, exhibits and demonstrations are included in the price of admission with the exception of tram rides and boat rentals.

John DeVivo, General Manager of Cannon Mountain and Franconia Notch State Park advised “The Feel’n Top Notch Outdoor Expo and Wellness Fair will showcase all that the Park has to offer year round in a fun and exciting environment.”

Frank Grimma, President of the Franconia Notch Chamber of Commerce stated, “This event is expected to grow and is expected to become one of the largest events north of the Notch. It will be a great opportunity for a family to visit the Franconia Notch State Park and enjoy numerous activities and learn about the outdoors for only $5.00 per adult. It is truly one of the great bargains of the summer.”

That evening the Littleton Regional Hospital Auxillary will be hosting an evening of dancing to the very popular Wicked Smart Horn Band from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. at The Peabody Lodge. Admittance to the dance is $20 per person. Proceeds benefit the Littleton Regional Hospital Charitable Foundation.
