Giving Opportunities

How can I help?
There are many ways to support Littleton Regional Hospital Charitable Foundation. Some options may have unique advantages to you, your spouse and heirs as well as to the Foundation.

What types of gifts can I make?

 Unrestricted Gifts
Unrestricted gifts are credited to the LRHCF Fund and give the Foundation the flexibility to support areas of greatest need. These gifts help to ensure that important programs and services are not threatened because of lack of funding.

 Restricted Gifts
Donations can be made to a wide range of specialty services or programs at the hospital, consistent with the donor’s personal interests. Please call Gail Clark in the Office of Development and Community Relations at (603) 444-9304 for details of available giving opportunities.

 Memorial/Honorarium Gifts
Memorial/Honorarium Gifts can be made in memory or in honor of an individual in any amount and for any specialty service or program. The hospital notifies the appropriate party of the memorial or honorarium gift.

 Endowed Funds
A contribution made through either a lifetime gift or a bequest establishes an endowed fund, which may be named for the donor or someone to whom the donor wishes to pay tribute. The principal is preserved and the income supports the purposes of the fund as specified by the donor.

 Naming Opportunities
The hospital is pleased to offer donors a wide range of naming opportunities to recognize their contributions. With substantial commitments an area of the hospital or a room may be named for or in honor or memory of an individual, or a named fund may be created.

What assets are considered gifts?

 Cash/Check
A gift of cash is the most common and immediate way to give to the LRHCF. Pledges may be paid over a period of up to five years and are fully deductible as allowable by law.

 Appreciated Securities
A gift of highly appreciated securities - if owned more than one year - generally allows the donor to deduct the full fair market value of the asset and avoid paying capital gains on those securities.

 Real Estate
If real estate that has been held for more than one year is given to support the Foundation, the donor - in most cases - receives a charitable income tax deduction for the fair market value of the property. Real estate gifts also can be used to fund a life income arrangement.

 Life Income Gifts
Life income arrangements vary and can offer financial benefits including: increased income; a charitable deduction; a reduction or avoidance of capital gains taxes; and a wonderful gift to LRHCF.

Are there ways that I can give and still ensure an income for the rest of my life?

 Charitable Gift Annuities
Charitable gift annuities provide the donor with a fixed rate of return based on the age(s) of the annuitant(s) when the gift is made. The donor receives an income tax deduction for a portion of the amount transferred to establish the annuity. LRHCF offers this life income vehicle to donors depending on their age.

 Charitable Remainder Trusts
Charitable remainder trusts are personalized management plans. They provide a distribution, at least annually, to one or more beneficiaries for life or a term of years with the remainder of the trust going to LRHCF.

 Bequests
For many donors, a gift made through their will is the best way to make a substantial contribution to LRHCF. Donors can leave specific dollar amounts or a percentage of their estate. Through a bequest, a donor can make a gift without depleting current assets and eliminate or reduce federal estate taxes. If you have included the LRHCF in your estate, please let us know.
