Caring People Caring For Others ...
Littleton Regional Hospital is pleased to announce the development of its Palliative Care Team. Maggie Davis, RN and Dr. Philip Lawson, MD, have developed a team of healthcare professionals, as well as home health and hospice volunteers, at Littleton Regional Hospital to provide high-quality holistic care for patients with advanced illness. Holistic medicine focuses on how the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual elements of a person are interconnected to maintain wellness.
The mission of the Palliative Care Team is: “To provide holistic services to patients who have advanced, incurable illness; to help patients identify their individual goals for the latter stages of their life and align their medical care with those goals; and to improve the quality of life of patients by relieving pain and managing symptoms, thereby helping patients ultimately die with dignity”. The palliative care team is available for consultation at the hospital. “A future goal,” states Dr. Lawson, “is to work with home health and hospice providers to be available for patients out of hospital and in nursing homes. This is an initiative that the team is currently working on, and we are hopeful that this service will be available in the near future.” For additional information regarding palliative care, please contact Maggie Davis, RN, or Dr. Phil Lawson at 603-444-2464.
